The PK22 Easy chair that we offer is a faithful reproduction of the original 1955 design by Poul Kjærholm, but should not be confused with the Fritz Hansen original - our very competitive price reflects this.

Poul Kjærholm designed modern functionalist furniture that was praised for its understated elegance and clean lines. The Mobilia Press wrote of him, "when Poul Kjærholm's furniture is evaluated today, it is not by virtue of its quantity, but of its supremacy."

The PK22 Easy Chair, designed by Poul Kjærholm in 1956, tests the limits of the cantilever or tension construction.

The Easy Chair is an extension of a chair which Kjærholm designed for his final examination at the College of Danish Design in 1951.

Kjærholm exploits a light and simple frame construction that comprises three types of piece: the legs, a cross brace and a side member - all of them easily industrially produced. Assembly of the chair is carried out by hand.

The principle of this frame laid the foundation of Kjærholm's later furniture designs.
